WyldLynx / Custom development

Custom development for your information systems

Make the workflow fit the work your team needs to do.

WyldLynx develops extensions, migrations and integrations around OpenText Content Manager and OpenText Voltage Data Security Platform. Start with the task that is difficult today, then agree a practical scope, testing and ongoing ownership.

When the standard product needs something more

A workflow needs one more step. A migration carries years of unusual metadata. A business system should file records automatically, but staff still copy them by hand. These are useful starting points for a development conversation.

WyldLynx develops around OpenText Content Manager and OpenText Voltage Data Security Platform. We look at the problem, the existing configuration and the available interfaces before deciding what needs to be built.

Sometimes an existing tool or a configuration change is enough. Where custom development is appropriate, we agree the scope, responsibilities and tests before implementation.

Five kinds of work

Applications built on Content Manager

Turn a register, shared inbox or document-heavy process into an application with an interface designed for the people who use it. Connect records, workflow, signatures and reporting according to the agreed design.

Check licensing, information flows, permissions and upgrade tests before building. Explore applications built on Content Manager (page awaiting publication).

Customisations and extensions

Shape workflows, filing rules, reports and integrations around the way your organisation works. Depending on the product version and supported interfaces, the scope may include client extensions, event-driven processing and logic around record types or metadata.

Confirm the supported software development kit and service interfaces for your environment. Compatibility needs testing before an upgrade.

Custom and complex migrations

Plan for legacy TRIM or HP Records Manager structures, file shares, SharePoint collections, dataset consolidation or a move from another records system. Agree source-to-destination mappings, validation and reconciliation so the team can account for the migration.

SmartMove supports bulk import with metadata. OpenText Voltage Data Security Platform can support discovery and review within an agreed scope; custom mapping or processing is assessed against your sources and destination requirements.

Commercial add-ins

Start by checking whether an existing product addresses the problem. SmartTools includes tools for bulk import, location management, disposal workflows, PDF conversion, links and bundling. DocuSign for Content Manager connects electronic signing with the records system.

Licensing, supported versions, product support and any plan inclusions need to be confirmed in the written offer.

Data Security Platform extensions

Discuss detection rules for your identifiers or protective markings, repository mappings, Content Manager target metadata and automation around supported interfaces. Feasibility depends on the selected components, deployment, versions, permissions and available integration options.

Review and authorise proposed actions. Retention rules, holds and exceptions still apply to any disposal workflow. Explore OpenText Voltage Data Security Platform.

Connect the systems people already use

Many information-management workflows span Microsoft 365, Content Manager and other business systems. Development can address a specific hand-off, such as how a document reaches the records system or how a process carries its metadata and permissions.

We assess the supported connection and deployment options for your environment. If the proposal involves Teams, SharePoint, Azure-hosted components or workflow automation, confirm the architecture, licensing and responsibilities as part of the design.

How a development engagement runs

  1. The problem, in your words

Describe what takes too long, where work gets stuck or what information you cannot produce. An example of the problem is more useful than a finished specification.

  2. Agree a short design

Set out the proposed change, affected systems, assumptions, tests and acceptance criteria. Agree pricing, deliverables and responsibilities in writing.

  3. Build and test

Agree a suitable development and test environment. Use representative data only where access, privacy and security requirements allow it, with a named reviewer from your team.

  4. Deploy and hand over

Plan deployment, rollback, documentation and operational ownership. Confirm any source-code handover, licensing or intellectual property terms in the agreement.

  5. Plan ongoing support

Agree maintenance, supported versions, response arrangements and future upgrade testing. Custom work is covered only where it is included in the agreed support scope.

Records decisions belong in the design

A migration mapping or an automated filing rule is a recordkeeping decision as well as a software change. The design needs to account for record types, metadata, retention, permissions and the people who authorise decisions.

Our own SmartTools and DocuSign for Content Manager products give you existing options to examine before commissioning something new. The next question is whether the tool fits your particular workflow and supported environment.

Agree how client information will be accessed, protected and removed from development environments. Document the controls and responsibilities alongside the technical design.

Make compatibility and support explicit

Using supported interfaces is a starting point for maintainable code. It does not guarantee that every extension will work unchanged after an upgrade.

Identify the product versions, dependencies and test cases that matter to your workflow. Agree who checks compatibility before a release, who fixes issues and what future maintenance is included. Changes to interfaces, configuration or connected systems may require further work.

Review Content Manager support options. Confirm how any custom development fits the selected plan and written scope.

Common questions

Will custom code work after a Content Manager upgrade?

Compatibility needs to be checked against the proposed product version and dependencies. Agree an upgrade test and maintenance approach in the engagement; supported interfaces do not remove the need for testing.

Can you review something another developer built?

We can assess the available code, documentation and environment before recommending whether to maintain, change, replace or retire it. Access rights, licensing and the condition of the existing work affect what is feasible.

Do we own what you build?

Ownership, licensing, reuse of components and any source-code handover are agreed in writing before work starts. Ask for these terms in the proposal.

Do you build outside Content Manager and Data Security Platform?

Our focus is information management and the systems connected to it. We assess work involving Microsoft 365, Azure, DocuSign or business applications according to its relationship with the information-management requirement.

How do we get a quote?

Describe the problem, affected systems, current versions and the outcome you need. We can then discuss a suitable starting scope and the information needed for a proposal. Timing and pricing are confirmed for the engagement.

Tell us what you need the system to do

Bring us the workflow that needs another step, the migration with unusual mappings or the system that should file records automatically. Tell us what happens now and what a useful result would look like.
